Invalidation by: Sandra T. Spalding, M.S., NCC, CCMHC The word invalidation means to nullify or to weaken or destroy Cogency. It means to invalidate or to weaken visibility. The methods of invalidation are used by people to make them Feel helpless, impotent,invisible, and non-existent. Techniques used are avoid eye contact, treat as though you are Not present or visible, to not engage in discussion or to devalue Anything you might say or do. The results of living in an environment or relationship of invalidation Results in depression, self loathing, or loathing others. One feels as Though you are a ghost. People shake hands with some, but bypass Your hand. Overtime this severe emotional and psychological abuse Begins to erode one’s self esteem, leads to extreme anger and lashing Out at others in order to be heard or seen. Extraordinary internal distress Of feelings of shame, helplessness, violence, hatred, chaos, lead one to Despair. The more the one feeling invalidated fights back in this dark
Environment, they are seen as unfriendly, aggressive, hateful, or just plain Crazy. They the seemingly peaceful, benign, pleasant folks appear to be Doing nothing at all. They charm and engage the one’s of like kind and Acknowledge, support, encourage, lift up, award, engage, love, And totally embrace each other. In the meantime the ghosts that suffer from being exiled are judged And looked upon as if there is something very wrong with them. The price of being invalidated can lead to murder, deepest despair, Vocal indignation, isolation, aggression or total loss of the will to live. Our society uses this technique to keep the voices of truth silent, hidden, And under their control. If this group of oppressors were to allow the Invalidated ones out they might lose power of their tribe and world they Manipulate so subtly as to appear as if they are doing nothing!! When in fact their subtle and seemingly harmless techniques render A Hitler type of anarchy. They are the killers and murderer’s of the
One’s they invalidate. For the invalidated they must stay silent and Depressed. Attempt to leave the environment of deathly suffocation. Lash out at the invalidators and risk looking bizarre. When the real Pathology lies in the need to control others by creating an invisible |
