Soul Work

by: Sandra T. Spalding, M.S., NCC, CCMHC

Life is full of problems and pain. Most of us look away and try to avoid the pain and the problems. However, the pain does go somewhere, either deep down inside of us or we displace it or project it onto something outside of us.

Did you ever think that this learned behavior might be keeping you removed from the real you? It takes courage to face your pain and to feel all of your feelings, but I have found that it leads to knowing more about the core and soul you. So why not follow your pain that draws you inward? For to follow your pain and dive in deepens you and helps you move closer toward the soul you. Embrace your sadness and feel it fully for it is also part of you. Embrace your fear and release it so that you may enjoy more inner peace. And, learn to release your anger in safe ways. All of these shadow feelings are part of you. They don't live in boogey men outside of us as we have been trained to believe! It is only when we deny these shadow feelings and see ourselves as all good that we can continue to project anger onto those that we criticize and judge to be different and/or bad.

Choosing to become a whole, integrated mind, body, and spiritual being is what I believe the purpose of being on earth is all about. I have found that underneath all these layers of ego lies our true self or soul. However, I have found that it requires emotional integrative work in order to get there. It is like an archaeological dig into your self. One may ask, "why bother?" The first reason to bother is perhaps because you will find out who you really are at the soul level. It might enable you more of the time to come from a warm, loving, and compassionate heart rather than an angry defended ego. This can result in liking yourself more and might enable you to embrace more of the soul part of those you love.

Can you imagine what it would be like if all of us felt more inner peace and radiance? Can you imagine what it would be like for you to have more times of centeredness and joy? It indeed would be a different world to live in our selves and also a different world outside of our selves.

Why not begin your journey within today so that you can feel more congruent and experience more inner strength. Inner peace leads to outer peace. Wouldn't it be amazing if we discovered that all these perceived external differences could just evaporate away as in our self discovery we found that each of us underneath is really a loving and compassionate soul. That we in fact are wrapped and disguised multi-layered with ego and earth related emotional work that really keeps us at war within ourselves and between each other. Why not begin your journey home - learn more about how to get there and how to move closer and closer to the real you. Begin to undo the subtle societal conditioning that has shaped you!
